Size guide helmets

Finding the correct ballistic helmet size is crucial for ensuring optimal protection, comfort, and performance in high-risk environments. Whether used by military personnel, law enforcement officers, security professionals, or a civilian, a properly fitted helmet not only provides the necessary ballistic protection but also enhances situational awareness and reduces the likelihood of injury. An ill-fitting helmet can cause discomfort, impair vision, and lead to insufficient protection during critical situations. Below are the key steps and considerations for finding your correct ballistic helmet size.

Guide: How to find your ballistic helmet size

Step 1. Get a tape measure

The first step in finding the right size for a ballistic helmet is measuring the circumference of your head. This is best done using a flexible measuring tape, like the kind used for sewing.

  • or use a string that you can then measure with a ruler, or similar.
  • or check the size of your current ballistic helmet. If it fits, use that size.

Step 2. Measure the circumference of your head

Place the measuring tape around the widest part of your head. Measure all the way around the head slightly above the ears and approx. 2-3 cm above the eyebrows. This is the area where the helmet will sit. Wrap the tape around your head, ensuring it is level and snug but not too tight. Make sure to take the measurement in either centimeters or inches. Write down the measurement and use it as a reference when selecting your helmet size.

Step 3. Choose a helmet

Choose your new ballistic helmet in the size that fits your head. See our helmets here.

Tip: If you are in between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the smallest.

When selecting the size, it’s important to factor in the weight and overall comfort of the helmet. While a well-fitted helmet should be snug, it shouldn’t feel overly heavy or cumbersome. You’ll need to wear the helmet for extended periods, so ensure that its size and weight are balanced appropriately for your head and neck. Adjusting the helmet’s padding and retention system allows for further customization, ensuring the helmet remains stable in dynamic and high-pressure situations. Always prioritize fit and comfort alongside protection when selecting your ballistic helmet.
